Go Tell Crusades provides the technical support and the needed experience to give oversight to the crusade process. Our staff has devised proven strategies and methods to accomplish the goal of reaching a community with the Gospel of Christ. A GO TELL Crusade Director will be assigned to represent GO TELL and give the local crusade direction and financial oversight. The GO TELL Crusade director will work closely with all facets of the crusade to maintain a cohesive and an effective organization. The GO TELL Crusade Director will be available on a daily basis via phone and email with regular trips planned to the local office as necessary.
TASK FORCE
The Task Force is comprised of eight to ten people who are vitally interested in the crusade’s success. The Task Force will select all of the crusade leadership which consists of the Executive Committee and Crusade Committee Chairmen. The individuals selected will be the keys to the success of the entire crusade. Many times those who serve on the Task Force also will be the best individuals to serve on the Executive Committee or serve as a chairman on another crusade committee because of their concern and vision for the crusade.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Executive Committee is the policy-making body of the crusade. It is comprised of the General Chairman, Co-Chairman, Secretary, and Finance Chairman. Additional co-chairmen and/or members-at large may be selected as necessary. The Crusade Director should be consulted about the selection and number of Executive Committee members. This group of leaders may be comprised of pastors, Christian community leaders, etc. They will be responsible to take ownership and oversight of the crusade. They will work closely with the Crusade Director to mobilize the church community and raise necessary finances to meet budgetary obligations. All members are expected to attend regular meetings for updates which may continue for an eight-to-ten-month period.
CRUSADE GENERAL CHAIRMAN
Typically, a single individual will stand out as the General Chairman. Often this person is either one of the initial organizers or inviters or a key layman who will be able to invest and devote a great amount of time and energy to assist with the crusade process. This person should be highly respected in the Christian community: a person of vision who has a history of success in his home, church, and business responsibilities. His role will be to work closely with the GO TELL Crusade Director to keep the crusade effort on track each step of the way, often being the crusade’s eyes, ears, hands, and feet. He will need to be a decision maker and have the ability to communicate with pastors and the public. This individual will preside at Executive Committee and Crusade Committee Chairman sessions.
CO-CHAIRMAN
He should be totally committed to the crusade effort and available to assist the General Chairman at all times. He should have the ability to supervise and motivate the committees assigned to him by the Chairman. He will represent and act on behalf of the General Chairman in his absence.
FINANCE CHAIRMAN
This person should be totally committed to the crusade effort with a background in business or financial management. He or she will be the financial liaison to the community, involving fund raising with churches, corporations, foundations, local businesses, and the private sector. The Finance Chairman should have the ability to manage and direct members of the Finance Committee.
ADMINISTRAVIE ASSISTANT
This individual also should be totally committed to the crusade effort and available to assist the General Chairman and Crusade Director at all times. He or she also should have organizational, administrative, and secretarial skills.
CRUSADE COMMITTEE CHAIRMEN
Committee chairmen must be vitally interested in the success of the crusade. They must understand they will be called upon to serve and lead dozens, possibly hundreds, on their committees. These chairmen must be aggressive, always positive, and hard workers. This group is comprised of laypersons, church leaders, and pastors. They are selected by the Task Force from various churches to have hands-on control of specific aspects of the crusade. These positions include: Arrangements, Attendance, Music, Counseling and Follow-up, Finance, Hospitality, Outreach, Prayer, Publicity, Telephone, Ushers, and Youth. The GO TELL Crusade Director will work closely with each of these persons to ensure they are well informed, trained, and prepared for their role.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
This committee should be comprised of several members who have a background in finance, accounting, or business management to ensure the expertise necessary to establish financial management procedures. It also will provide the community with confidence that their financial resources will be handled in a professional manner. A few business and community leaders should be on the committee to assist with community fund-raising efforts. The crusade budget should be secured two weeks prior to the crusade. Individuals with fund-raising experience, who are well known in the community, will be a great asset in accomplishing this goal.
CHURCH MOBILIZATION TEAMS
Each participating church should have a team of laypeople committed to mobilizing their congregation. The six roles include: Congregational Leader, Counseling and Follow-up Leader, Outreach Leader, Prayer Leader, and Youth Leader. This group is invited to attend one of the Crusade Information Seminars held by the Crusade Director. Each person will be able to share in the crusade’s responsibility and ownership.
