What About The Costs?

How much a crusade will cost is largely dependent on the number of people a venue will be trying to reach.  The Philosophy of the GO TELL Crusade is that our God gave us His very best; therefore, He deserves our very best – a first-class event that will honor and glorify Him.  We will covenant with your community to produce this event in the most economical way possible, keeping in mind that cheapest is not always the best.  A crusade director for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association once said, “No lasting results are ever produced from a crusade on a shoestring budget.”  Finances should never be an obstacle when souls are at stake.  God will always provide what is needed.

Financial arrangements for the crusade should be clearly understood and agreed upon by the local committee from the very beginning to avoid any future confusion.  The local Finance Committee handles fund raising, accounting, and banking in conjunction with financial procedures established by GO TELL Crusades.  A crusade bank account should be opened at a local bank in the name of GO TELL Crusades, Inc. DBA (doing business as) the name of the local crusade.  It is essential that the account be opened in the name of GO TELL Crusades, Inc. in order for contributions to the crusade effort to be tax deductible; the local crusade committee is not.  A tax receipt will be issued to all contributors monthly as the local committee submits the information to GO TELL Crusades.

The local Executive Committee establishes the crusade budget with advisory help from the Crusade Director.  This director will provide estimated costs for any contractors, the crusade team, and any special guests used crusade events.  Rick Gage does not personally charge a fee or accept any honorarium from the crusade.  He received a salary from GO TELL Crusades, Inc. that is set by a Board of Directors.  GO TELL Crusades is a faith-based ministry that trusts the Lord’s faithfulness to provide for its needs through the people of God.  A Love Offering will be received each night of the crusade for the continued work of GO TELL Crusades around the world.

The following ways are typically how a local GO TELL Crusade is financed:

1.      Through a Kick-off Banquet that will cast the vision of the crusade before those in attendance and give them the opportunity to give financially.

2.      Through contributions from the participating churches (special love offering, one-time gift, monthly giving, sponsoring different aspects of the crusade, etc.)

3.      Through individual contributions (Churches should encourage individual support of the crusade.  Offering should be taken at crusade meetings and training sessions.)

4.      Through donations from the local business community. (The Finance Committee should approach local businesses to present them with the opportunity to give back to the community by investing in lives that will be changed as a result of the crusade.

5.      Through a businessmen’s breakfast or luncheon, civic groups, or other fundraising efforts.

6.      Through any local foundation.

The crusade budget should be raised two weeks prior to the crusade.  Any contributions that exceed the actual expenses should become a part of the love offering.  Then the love offering should be paid to GO TELL Crusades upon the crusade’s completion.  Thirty days after the crusade is over, the bank account should be closed and any remaining funds  - along with all of the original invoices and payment documentation, bank statements, any additional contributor information, and a final financial report –should be mailed to:
